College Softball: Blazers Split Softball Twinbill at Grays Harbor

Centralia lost a tight 2-1 contest in the opener, but bounced back to win 10-8 in the nightcap on Wednesday in NWAC softball action at Aberdeen.

Mikaila Neilson hit a fourth-inning solo homer to give the Chokers the win in Game 1. 

Centralia’s lone run came in the top of the first inning, when Katie Adkins hit a sacrifice fly to score Nikole Schock. Grays Harbor tied things up in the bottom of the second, then scored the final run in the fourth.

Adkins went 2 for 2 with an RBI. Hailey Sneddon and Katelynn Redmill had the Blazers’ other hits.

Sha’Kayla Harris went all seven innings to get the win for the Chokers, striking out three with four hits and a walk. 

Sneddon worked all six innings for Centralia, allowing six hits with three strikeouts and a walk. Both Choker runs were earned.



The Blazer bats woke up in the Game 2 win to the tune of 13 hits. Casey Wentz went 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI, Adkins was 2 for 5 with a pair of doubles, Schock was 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and an RBI, and Hailey Sneddon was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Kerianne Cline added a hit and drove in two runs. 

Paige Bryant, meanwhile, got the win in the circle, working all seven innings and giving up eight hits with six earned runs. 

Shaylee Bisbee homered for Grays Harbor in the nightcap. 

Centralia (4-4) plays a doubleheader at Lower Columbia on Saturday.
