College Soccer: Blazers Nab First Victory

Centralia College women’s soccer used two late goals to come away with a 2-0 victory over Peirce College on the road Friday.

Freshman Talia Washington scored in the 55th minute and sophomore Chloe Narolski added a goal in the 80th minute to give the Trailblazers their first win of the season. The Blazers fell to Tacoma on Tuesday in their season opener.

Centralia coach Clarence Gunderson said it felt good to get one in the win column and that the Blazers held possession for about 85% of Friday’s game against Pierce.

“We pretty much outplayed them,” Gunderson said. “We just couldn’t finish. We moved the ball well and worked well together as a group. We want to be a team people want to come watch.”

The Blazers (1-1) get back on the pitch at noon Friday when they host rival Lower Columbia College at Tiger Stadium.
