The Adna Closers and CC Devils ruled the RAC on Saturday, winning their respective brackets at the week-long. 10u Cascade Nationals.

The Closers beat Chehalis PAC Fastpitch 9-2 in the championship game of the A Bracket, while in the B Bracket, the Devils smacked the Oregon Firecats 11-2.

The Closers started their run in the five-day tournament by beating the Devils 7-2 and the Firecats 12-2 on Tuesday, before falling 4-2 to PAC in their final game of pool play Wednesday. On Thursday, they began their run through bracket play by getting revenge against PAC with a 7-6 win in the first round, before crushing Sabotage 10u 13-0 on Friday to get to the finals.

PAC bounced back from the first-round loss by climbing through the losers’ bracket, beating the GH Crushers 8-3, then downing Sabotage 13-2.

The Devils, meanwhile, bounced back from their pool-play-opening loss to tie PAC 4-4, then beat the Oregon Firecats in a huge game to end Wednesday.

Once they got to the bracket portion of the tournament, though, the Devils hit their stride, outscoring their opponents 38-3 across three games.

After falling to the Closers in the first round of the A Bracket, PAC bounced back to beat the GH Crushers, then eliminated Sabotage 13-2 to reach the finals.

Local athletes also won titles for the CC Devils Richie team (based in Castle rock), which beat its program friends CC Devils Fisher for the 14u B Division title.

The Chehalis Cats came home with fourth place in that 14u B Division out of 14 teams. After going 2-1 in pool play, Chehalis opened bracket play with a 7-5 win over the Kitsap Ospreys and a 5-2 win over the Rocky Mountain Thunder. That sent them to the quarterfinals, where they fell 6-5 to the eventual tournament champions in their third game of the day Thursday. On Friday, they won their first game 4-0, before falling in the loser’s bracket semifinal 6-2 to the Arizona Desert Thunder.

In the 16u ranks, Sabotage 16u went 2-1 in pool play but lost its opener in bracket play 9-1 on Thursday. The Saboteurs staved off elimination once with a 9-1 win over TABU to make it to Friday, but lost 1-0 to Northwest Speed to exit the tournament.

In the oldest division, Sabotage 18u aced pool play with a 3-0 record by a combined score of 42-11, but lost in the quarterfinals to the Port Angeles Illusion before crashing out in their first elimination test.
