Chehalis Middle School Student Serves as Page in State House

Posted

Jack Robison, a 14-year-old Chehalis Middle School student, recently served as a page for state Rep. Joel McEntire, R-Cathlamet, in the Washington state House of Representatives. Jack, whose parents are Clint and Katie Robison, spent a week at the state Capitol in Olympia where he attended page school and assisted legislators on the House floor. In page school, students have the chance to learn about the inner workings of state government and draft legislation bills to present in a mock committee hearing with other pages.

"Jack showed great understanding of government and the political process in discussions we had about his proposed legislation," McEntire said. "I am sure Washington state will be seeing more of Jack in the years to come."

Pages make $50 per day while serving in the program. To become a page, applicants must have a legislative sponsor, be between the ages of 14 and 16, and obtain written permission from their parents and school.
