A 57-year-old Chehalis man died in a single-vehicle crash on state Route 6 near Doty Sunday night.

Brandt D. McKenna was traveling east near mile marker 32 in a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta when he crossed the westbound lane and struck a tree at about 9:45 p.m., according to the Washington State Patrol.

The vehicle rolled down an embankment before coming to a stop.

McKenna was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the state patrol, which noted in a news release that drugs or alcohol are believed to have contributed to the crash.
