Posted

Every month, the Chehalis-Centralia Optimist Club celebrates students who are selected by their schools for their academic achievements. This year, three schools participated: Chehalis Middle School, Centralia Middle School and Centralia Christian School.

The students of the month for Chehalis Middle School were:

Daisy Medal in September, Connor Klovdahl in October, Alondra Perez Alvarado in November, Jaxon Valazquez in December, Taylor Stevens in January, Kaden Schow in February, Neveah Reynolds in March, Weston Potter in April and Julia Dalan in May.

Students of the month for Centralia Middle School were:

Tess McMurray in October, Daisha Mock in November, Elven Chavez Rojas in December, Natalia Hedgers in January, Ayla Guerrero in February, Edwin Hernandez in March, Avalon Dejong in April and Aiyonna Menke in May.

For Centralia Christian School, students are chosen by trimester instead of month. The three students of the trimester were: Kellen Rooklidge in the first trimester, Joseph Caserta in the second trimester and Layla Von Wald in the third trimester.

Students of the month fill out a questionnaire and meet with the club over zoom to determine who will be chosen as student of the year for their school.

The club chose Kaden Schow as the Chehalis Middle School student of the year. For the first time in the club’s history, two students were chosen for one school out of Centralia Middle School. The students were Elven Chavez-Rojas and Daisha Mock. From Centralia Christian School, Kellen Rooklidge was chosen as student of the year.

Each of the students of the year are awarded with a $500 scholarship.
