Charles Samuel Solomon

 Charles Samuel Solomon, 90, died peacefully on Dec. 14, 2013 in Beaverton, Ore.  He was born on Jan. 20, 1923 in St. Clair, Wash., the son of George and Aslig Solomon. He was raised in Napavine and was a graduate of the Napavine High School Class of 1942, where he made many life long friends.

He married Wildes Arlene Peterson on Sept. 1, 1945.  They raised their four children in Klamath Falls, Ore. and later Centralia, Wash.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Wildes in 1974. He was also preceded in death by his partner of many years, Maxine Manberg in 2012.

He had a strong sense of family and was proud of his Armenian heritage. He had a passion for flying the skies in his Cessna, and also loved to play golf at his home of many years, Newaukum Golf Course.   He will always be remembered for his compassion, sense of humor, friendliness and zest for life.  He will be forever loved and missed.

Charles was also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Mike and George; and sisters, Mary, Margaret and Koorug.

Survivors include his children, Charlene Solomon, Linda (Peter) Smiley, Charles A. Solomon, Wendi (James) Watterson; step-children Dean (Jan) Manberg, Sandra Manberg; sisters-in law, Peg Solomon, Shirley Solomon, Anna Peterson, Marlene Ely; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Private internment will take place at Mt. View Cemetery in Centralia, Wash.   A family celebration of life will take place at a later date.
