Competing in a bracket filled with defending state champions and placers at the Gut Check tournament in Kent, Centralia’s Antonio Campos took home the 120-pound title in a loaded tournament.

Campos battled through a field that featured eight returning state placers and two defending champions for the title, improving his record to 16-0 overall this season with 14 pins, and a career 75-1 record.

“He was super pumped,” Centralia coach Scott Phillips said.

Campos was dominant throughout, winning three of his five matches by fall, one by major decision, and the title match against Hoyt Hvass of Clarkston, Washington by a 4-2 decision.

The rest of the Tigers’ boys team was at Ridgefield at the Wyatt Draper Invite, finishing with five total placers and two champions.

Centralia’s Willy Stinkeaway (285) and Eddie Mojica (220) won belts, while Antonio Garcia (126) finished second, Alika Vargas (195) finished third, and Christopher Mendoza (170) finished third as well in a strong weekend for the Tiger boys.

Centralia will head to Kelso for another tournament next Saturday.
