Another state swimming meet, another Bringman making waves in King County.
After Chihiro Bringman rose to the top at the Class 1A/2A girls swimming state meet last fall, her younger sister Suki did the same thing on Saturday morning.
Suki Bringman helped Centralia finish 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4 minutes, 8.26 seconds and also nabbed a pair top-15 individual placements on the second day of state at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
The Tigers finished in a tie for 21st in the team race with Sequim at 26 points. Bainbridge Island rolled to the team state title with a whopping 316 points.
Bringman blistered her way to 11th in the 500 freestyle final, swimming 5:53.61 that beat her prelim time by four seconds. In the 50 freestyle, the junior touched in the line in 26.97 seconds to place 13th.
Joining Bringman on the top-10 relay was Chloe Hansen, Lourdes Rodriguez and Anna Nguyen. Nguyen, a freshman, secured 15th in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:30.05. Hansen was 21st in the 100 butterfly during Friday’s prelims.
Tumwater’s Makayla Sarsfield made the finals in the 100 breaststroke in her second straight season qualifying her in the event. She finished 11th overall in 1:16.18 and reached the finals by swimming a second faster than her final time.
The Thunderbirds’ 200 medley and 400 freestyle relays both finished 21st overall. Rochester’s Grace Morgan finished top-20 in the 100 and 200 freestyle while teammate Kaysee Smith was 19th in the 500 freestyle.
Black Hills sophomore Cailtin Roberts nabbed 21st in the 200 IM and swam a leg on the Wolves’ 24th place 400 freestyle relay.
