Behind a pair of clutch penalty shootout makes and saves from Braylee Blankenship, the Tigers nabbed their first home victory of the season with a 2-1 (3-2 PKs) triumph over the Wolves on Thursday night in an Evergreen Conference matchup.

Cyndal Sills and Bella Gomez made the last two Centralia (4-2-3, 3-0 EvCo) penalty kicks after trailing 2-1 in the shootout. Black Hills’ last two kicks were wide and over the crossbar.

“Very intense match,” Centralia head coach Luis Magana said. “We got to give the fans what they came for, a dub.”

Olivia Gruginski, who also scored in the shootout, put the Tigers out front in regulation with her 11th goal of the season in the 38th minute. The Wolves knotted the match at one apiece in the 65th minute.

Centralia will face W.F. West in the first meeting of the Chronicle Cup and Black Hills faces its county rival Tumwater, both on Tuesday night.
