The federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is conducting an investigation into two suspects and $2 million worth of drugs, including meth and fentanyl, the Centralia Police Department seized during a traffic stop in November.
The Centralia Police Department released information about the traffic stop and investigation on Thursday.
Patrol officers conducted the traffic stop on a 2023 Toyota Corolla out of California, occupied by two subjects with Arizona and Mexico ID cards, on Interstate 5, according to a news release from the Centralia Police Department.
“Based on the officer’s observations and surrounding facts, Centralia Police K9 Havik was deployed around the vehicle,” the Centralia Police Department said in the news release. “After receiving a positive alert from K-9 Havik, the vehicle was searched for controlled substances.”
During the search, Centralia police located and seized approximately 150 pounds of Methamphetamine and approximately 80,000 fentanyl pills hidden amongst the occupant’s luggage, according to the news release.
The estimated street value of the seized drugs was at least $2 million.
“The destination for the controlled substances was unknown and both occupants were arrested at the scene,” the Centralia Police Department said in the news release, adding that the investigation and suspects were turned over to the DEA for prosecution.
“This investigation is ongoing and no further details will be provided,” the Centralia Police Department said in the news release. “If you, a friend or family member is struggling with drug addiction, please reach out and seek assistance by contacting Cascade Community Healthcare at 360-748-4339.”
