Posted

Centralia College’s Family and Child Studies program will offer Parenting in Recovery classes at both its main and East Lewis County campuses this summer.

Parenting in Recovery will take place Wednesdays July 2-Aug. 20. In Centralia, the class will be offered from 2:15 to 4:30 p.m. at Centralia College Home and Family Life, 420 Centralia College Blvd. In Morton, the class will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Fresh Start, 212 Second St.

Parenting in Recovery is a free class that allows parents in substance abuse recovery to focus on understanding the impact of that abuse on family dynamics, rebuild trusting relationships and renew family bonds.

For more information or to register for the Centralia class, contact Cynthia Waddell at cwaddell@centralia.edu or call (360) 736-9391, ext. 298. In Morton, call Sheryl Low at (360) 496-1827.

Meanwhile, Centralia College, in partnership with the Morton Coalition, will sponsor Grandparents as Parents, an education support class, starts July 7 at Morton Community United Methodist Church. That class is designed to help relative caregivers learn ways they can enhance and support children’s development and growth, while also looking at what it means to raise a second family.

Grandparents as Parents is also a free class. For more information, contact Sheryl Low at (360) 496-1827 or Donna Ruby at (360) 736-9391, ext. 588, or via email at druby@centralia.edu.
