Centralia College No Longer Requires COVID-19 Vaccines for Students on Campus

Centralia College (CC) no longer requires students to provide their COVID-19 vaccination status to access in-person services or classes.

Students are still encouraged to be vaccinated for COVID-19 and report those vaccinations through their online student account, but vaccination will not be required to access on-campus services and classes, the college announced Tuesday.

Per state regulations, all CC employees, including student workers, are required to be vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved exemption. The current rule change applies only to CC students.

“Centralia College has been able to keep infection rates very low for two years,” said CC President Bob Mohrbacher. “We will continue to do all of the things we know work to keep people safe on campus. We are still social distancing. We are still encouraging individuals to stay home and get tested if they feel unwell. We are still contact tracing all positive cases. All of those things aren’t going away. We are simply changing the requirement for students to report their vaccination status to the college.”

While not required on campus, the college encourages masking indoors. “According to the Centers for Disease Control, masking is proven to reduce spread and protect at-risk individuals,” stated CC in a news release.
