It took a rally in the nightcap for the Centralia College softball team to secure an 8-5, 6-5 doubleheader sweep over Treasure Valley on Saturday afternoon at Bob Peters Field. The first win was an NWAC win while the second was a non-league matchup.
The Trailblazers (3-0, 1-0 NWAC) jumped out to a 3-0 cushion in the opener, then piled on with a four-run fifth to break the game open. They rallied in Game 2, down 3-2 before plating four runs in the bottom of the sixth to nab the lead.
Emma Hoffmeister struck out eight in the circle in Game 1 while also going 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBIs. Centralia High School grads Gracie Schofield and Jimena Luis each roped a double and scored twice.
Ava Hernandez pitched an inning in the first game and tossed a complete game in Game 2 for Centralia. Macey Fluetsch, a Rochester grad, registered two hits and recorded an RBI plus Rachel Gray drove in two runs with a double.
The Trailblazers will face Mt. Hood in a doubleheader on March 13 at home.
