In a game that didn’t lack in scoring, the Winlock baseball team fell to Wahkiakum at home Friday afternoon in a Central 2B League contest, 20-12.

The Cardinals peppered 15 hits across the field to Wahkiakum’s 12, but a couple of errors cost them a chance of holding a lead, allowing seven runs in the seventh as the Mules pulled away for the win.

Six Cardinals recorded multiple hits, with Carter Svenson going 2 for 3, James Cusson going 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Kyrin Meehan going 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Arean Thapa going 2 for 3 with three runs scored, Trevor Twiggs going 2 for 3 with two runs scored, and Camren Cusson going 2 for 5 with two runs scored and two RBIs.

But on the mound, the Cards couldn’t find the same success. Meehan went four innings and allowed nine runs, with seven earned on six hits and four walks with seven strikeouts. Aiden Eitel went an inning and allowed three earned runs on one hit and four walks with three strikeouts. Svenson finished the final two innings, allowing eight runs, with six earned on five hits and three walks.

The Cardinals head to Cathlamet Saturday at noon for a rematch in another league game.
