Cardinals Open Season With Dominant Win

Adding new pieces to an already strong team is exciting. Returning the talents of Addison Hall and Madison Vigre, Winlock added one more piece to the puzzle, and the trio starred in a 66-16 victory over Three Rivers Christian in its season opener Thursday.

“It was a good start with a new system and adding new girls to the mix,” Cardinals coach Dracy McCoy said. “We were waiting and ready for the game.”

Led by Hall’s 18-point, 16-rebound, 10-assist, triple-double, the Cardinals (1-0) led from start to finish in a dominant display. Vigre led the Cards with 20-points, 16-rebounds, 4-assist, new addition Charlie Carper nearly had a triple-double herself with 12 points, nine rebounds, and nine steals.

“Charlie is a great kid and a wonderful presence on our team,” McCoy said. “We enjoy having her.”

Winlock outscored the Eagles 38-6 at the half, and dominated on both ends of the floor in the season-opening statement win.

“The girls were nervous but settled in,” McCoy said. “Everything began clicking in the second quarter.”

The Cards will play on the road against Castle Rock next Tuesday for their next contest.
