Bummy and Herb Yantis Celebrate 74 Years of Marriage

Posted

Bummy and Herb Yantis will be celebrating their 74th wedding anniversary on June 27.

The couple was married in 1947 at the Presbyterian church in Toledo, where the couple is from.

They have two children including Steve (and Lucy) in Toledo and Janie (and Vern) Croy in Chehalis. They have seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

The couple belong to the Chehalis Methodist Church and have been active members of the Newaukum Grange in Chehalis. Bummy also played and sang with a lot of different musicians in the county and other counties. She was known for her yodeling.

Bummy and Herb have lived in Adna for 47 years. Prior to that, they lived in Longview and Anacortes.

Their daughter plans to take them to Seaside, Oregon, for the day where they have spent the last 10 years taking time to ride the merry go round there — on the horses — but not this year. Otherwise they will spend a quiet evening at home with family having cake and ice cream when they return.
