Boys Tennis: Tigers Tripped Up in 4-2 Loss in Shelton

Centralia won a singles and a doubles match but wasn’t able to put it all together in a 4-2 loss in Shelton Wednesday.

Shelton’s Brendan Wagner defeated Centralia’s Jacoby Corwin, 6-3, 6-1, in No. 1 singles. In No. 2 singles, Centralia’s Connor O’Dell defeated Shelton’s Josh Brennan, 6-4, 6-3.

“Connor had a tough singles match and played well,” Centralia coach Scott Snyder said.

In No. 3 singles, Shelton Kai Ruiz defeated Asa Buchanan, 6-0, 6-0.



On the doubles side, Shelton’s Jaden Lovingoss and Wyatt Wagner defeated Landon Kaut and Brandon Yeung, 6-2, 6-3, in No. 1 doubles.

In No. 2 doubles, Shelton’s Brady Walsh and Shawn McCullough defeated Antonio Almanza and Justin Kuykendall, 6-3, 6-1. In No. 3 doubles, Centralia’s David Parsons and Jordan Yeung defeated Caleb Brennan and Connor McCullough, 5-7, 6-1 (1-0) in a 10-8 tiebreaker.

“They all played well,” Snyder said of his team. “Shelton is tough, consistent and they played a little better than us.”

Centralia (1-3-1) hosts Black Hills on Friday.
