Boys Tennis: Tigers and Bobcats Battle to Tie

Posted

For the second-straight day, Centralia boys tennis ended regulation with a 3-3 tie. On Wednesday, the Tigers were edged by one game in the tiebreaker with Tumwater for the loss. Thursday’s match at Aberdeen was a little different.

After ending with a 3-3 tie, the games tiebreaker also ended with a tie at a dead-even 62-62, resulting in a rare draw.

Has Centralia’s first-year coach Scott Snyder ever seen this happen in his 40-plus years coaching?

“In all my coaching? No,” Snyder said.

In No. 1 singles, Centralia’s Landon Kaut defeated Andrew Troeh, 6-4, 6-1. In No. 2 singles, Centralia’s Brandon Yeung defeated Kyle Miller, 7-5, 6-0. And in No. 3 singles, Aberdeen’s David Parsons defeated Centralia’s Foster Patterson, 6-1, 6-0.

On the doubles side, Aberdeen’s Colton Faulkner and Ashdon Swope defeated Centralia’s Jacoby Corwin and Conner O’Dell, 6-2, 6-2. In No. 2 doubles, Centralia’s Justin Kuykendall and Antonio Almanza defeated Kevin Eng and Brodyn Osina, 7-5, 2-6, 6-2. In No. 3 doubles, Aberdeen’s Charlie Carossino and Jamison Bernie defeated Centralia’s Asa Buchanan and Jordan Yeung, 1-6, 7-6, 7-5.

“It was a nailbiter,” Snyder said of the No. 3 doubles match.

Centralia hosts Eatonville at home on Monday.
