Boys Tennis: Bearcats Sweep Bobcats; Tigers Edged by T-Birds

W.F. West had no trouble with Aberdeen, crushing the Bobcats, 6-0, on the road Wednesday to remain undefeated at 5-0 overall and 4-0 in league play.

Justin Chung won his No. 1 singles match with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Andrew Troeh. Jadyn Han defeated Kyler Miller, 7-6, 10-8, 7-5, in No. 2 singles. Andrew Boggess defeated Foster Gunderseon, 6-1, 6-0, in No. 3 singles.

In No. 1 doubles, Joseph Chung and Aaron Boggess won their match 6-1, 6-3. Mason Walters and Han Meyer defeated Kevin Eng and Brodyn Osina, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 2 doubles. And Will Cumming and Byce Kuykendall defeated Eric Lind and Charlie Carossina, 6-0, 6-0, in No. 3 doubles.

W.F. West hosts Eatonville on Friday.

Tigers Edged by Thunderbirds

Centralia nabbed all doubles matches and Tumwater took all the singles matches but the Thunderbirds broke the tiebreaker by winning one extra game to defeat the Tigers in Centralia on Wednesday.



In No. 1 singles, Tumwater’s Drew Johnson defeated Asa Buchanan, 6-0, 6-0. In No. 2 singles, Tumwater’s Tanner Brewer defeated Jordan Yeung, 6-0, 6-0. Centralia forfeited the No. 3 singles match.

In No. 1 doubles, Centralia’s Landon Kaut and Brando Yeung defeated Gavin Alderman and Lawson Lougheed, 6-0, 6-1. In No. 2 doubles, Centralia’s Jacoby Corwin and Conner O’Dell defeated Spencer Fillitton and Kaub Peterson, 6-0, 6-0. And in No. 3 doubles, Centralia’s Justin Kuykendall and Antonio Almanza defeated Riley Cummins and Gabe Lopez-Tovrik, 6-0, 6-0.
In the JV doubles match, Centralia’s Conner O’Dell and Antonio Almanza defeated Shea Kase and Judah Roach, 6-0.

“Real pleased,” Centralia coach Scott Snyder said. “Jordan (Yeung) has been with us for 12 days and he’s really come along. He’s athletic, quick and very coachable.”

Centralia (1-2) travels to Aberdeen Monday. Tumwater hosts Black Hills on Thursday.
