People from throughout the community came together at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Saturday, March 4, to raise funds in support of the Lewis County Animal Shelter and cancer care in Lewis County.

The third annual “We Love Animals and Hate Cancer” Bowling Tournament raised $3,277.50 each for the Cancer Care Fund of the Providence Southwest Washington Foundation and the Lewis County Animal Shelter. Bowlers paid a fee to the Lewis County Bowling Association to enter a day-long tournament that consisted of singles and mixed doubles games and included a silent auction of locally-sourced services and goods. The event was organized by Ron Keller and Barbara Overlin.

The Lewis County Animal Shelter is open to the public 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The shelter houses stray, homeless and unwanted animals. The shelter strives to find all adoptable pets a lifetime home and promote responsible pet ownership through education and outreaches.

The Providence Southwest Cancer Care Fund provides funding in support of comprehensive patient oncology needs, including patient education, complementary cancer therapies, new equipment and patient support programs.
