Bobcats Walk Off to Beat Tigers

The Centralia baseball team’s second go-around with Aberdeen didn’t end up being quite as wild as the first, but still featured plenty of dramatics, with the Bobcats getting back at the Tigers in a 5-4 walk-off win.

“It was a good high school baseball game,” Centralia coach Jake LeDuc said. “It was well-pitched on both sides, some timely hitting from both of us.”

Centralia scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to take a 4-3 lead, but Aberdeen came right back against sophomore reliever John Leedy. The Bobcats loaded the bases with no outs, and while Centralia staved off doom for a batter by getting one out at the plate, Aberdeen plated a pair on a single to win.

“That’s what we talked about after the game, we’ve got to find a way to finish games,” LeDuc said. “We’re a decent team. And we have to believe that we’re a decent team and finish things out.”

Brady Sprague went 5 ⅓ innings to start for the Tigers and walked eight, but worked around those for the most part to finish with just two runs allowed.

“Brady was very good, and gave us a chance to win,” LeDuc said.

Landen Jenkins went 1 for 3 with an RBI double, and Sprague, Moshie Eport, and Tucker Weaver all added singles.

Centralia will take on King’s in a non-league game Friday.
