Blazers Swept to End Season

The Centralia College softball team took to the field for the final time in 2023 in Gresham, Ore., over the weekend, dropping two games to Mt. Hood, 9-0 and 7-6.

It took the Blazers eight innings to get on the board, after being shut out in a five-inning loss in Game 1 and going three more scoreless innings in Game 2.

Once they did get the offense going in the second game, it churned out two runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth to jump out to a 6-0 lead, but that’s where the good times ended. Mt. Hood halved the gap with a three-run frame in the bottom of the fifth, then rallied for four runs before the Blazers could get the second out in the seventh to walk off winners.

Taylor Shelton had the best day at the plate for CC, going 2 for 2 in Game 1 — the rest of the lineup managed just one knock — and added two RBIs and a double in Game 2.

Centralia ends its season with a 11-26 overall record, having gone 9-19 in NWAC South play.
