Blazers Sweep Softball Doubleheader With Clark

VANCOUVER — The Blazers kicked off their NWAC South Conference softball schedule with a pair of wins Saturday, drubbing Clark 11-3 and 13-0 in a doubleheader.

Emma Eko went 4 for 4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs in the opener, while Skye Snow homered and pitched all five innings to get the win. 

Kylie Baker was 3 for 3, Casey Wentz tripled, and coach Payton Pocklington cited infielders Kaylee Ashley, Annika Mason and Sydney Yates for their play defensively. The Blazers played error-free defense and tallied 13 hits in the win.

The hitting continued in Game 2, which featured 17 Blazer hits and all 13 runs scored across the final four innings. Baker went 2 for 2 with a double, Yates was 2 for 4 with a pair of doubles, Eko went 2 for 4, and Nikole Schock was 3 for 4 with a homer and three RBIs. Faith Kennedy went 2 for 3 with a double and four RBIs and Grace Hodel was 2 for 2 with two RBIs.



Kiyah Kennedy worked the first three innings, striking out five and giving up one hit, while Paige Bryant allowed one hit over the final two frames to put things away.

“I’m very proud of our pitching staff today and hope to continue having hot bats every inning,” Pocklington said. 

Centralia (3-5, 2-0 conference) hosts Chemeketa for a 3 p.m. doubleheader on Friday and Southwestern Oregon for a noon twinbill on Saturday.
