Blazers Sweep Home Doubleheader With Olympic

Centralia College baseball had no trouble dispatching Olympic College in a home doubleheader sweep , 8-3 and 9-1, Friday at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

In Game 1, the Trailblazers turned 13 hits into eight runs, highlighted by a five-run seventh inning that pushed them past the Rangers.

Casen Taggert led the way at the plate, going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Matthew Obst and Jaden Fulsher each added two hits.

Centralia High School alum Derek Beairsto struck out three batters and scattered seven hits across six innings.

In Game 2, the Tigers outhit the Ranger 10-4, with Ryan Morrison going 2 for 3 at the plate as nine Blazers in total tallied hits. Jeremy Vierra, Taggert, Morrison, James Nelson, Aaron Peters and Kadin Miller all drove in runs.

Obst posted an impressive performance on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings with nine strikeouts. Ayden Ruminski and Cole Tague each struck out three batters as well.

“As a team we are starting to come together,” Blazers coach Ben Harley said. “We are playing true freshmen in five, sometimes six, positions, and have two true freshmen in our starting rotation. As a program, we are improving every day. We are excited to see what our team looks like when playoff time comes.”

Centralia College improves to 5-7 overall and has won five of its last six games. The Blazers next travel to Shoreline on March 19 for a doubleheader starting at noon.
