Blazers Get Commanding Sweep Over Grays Harbor

The Centralia softball team only needed 10 innings to sweep its doubleheader against Grays Harbor with authority, beating the Chokers 8-0 and 17-2 in a pair of five-frame run-rules at the corner of Silver and Walnut.

The Blazers came to the plate eight times and put up six crooked numbers over the course of the afternoon — two in Game 1 and four in Game 2 — to snap a six-game skid with authority.

Pe Ell alum Ava Bush led the charge in the second game, going 3 for 3 with three RBIs and a pair of runs at the plate, and allowing one unearned run in two innings in the circle. Iz Shelton added a 3-for-4 outing with a triple and six RBIs in the heart of the order, while Kat Tuller, Sydney Yates, and Zoe Miller all put together two-hit games.

Game 1 saw Paige Bryant give up just one hit in four innings, walking one and striking out four. Bush went hitless but drove home a pair of runs, while Yates, Kylie Baker, and Haylee Vogele all hit doubles.

Centralia will hope to turn its sweep into momentum, with the Blazers hosting Mt. Hood for two games next Wednesday.
