The Black Hills boys basketball team got back in the win column on Monday, topping Tenino 59-48.
The game was tight through the first three quarters were as close as they could be, as the Wolves led by just one entering the fourth.
They upped the tempo in the fourth, though, outscoring the Beavers 19-9 in the final frame to pull away.
“They got downhill on us,” Tenino coach Ryan Robertson said. “The pace picked up, and that wore us out … That really hurt us.”
James Morgan led the Wolves with 24 points, while Quentin Morrill and Talon Morrill combined for 25. Peyton Faught scored 10.
The loss snapped Tenino’s (2-7) two-game winning streak.
Austin Gonia led the Beavers with 12 points, and Jack Burkhardt scored 11 in his second game back from injury.
“Jack did a really good job,” Robertson said. “We have to get the ball to him inside more and take advantage of that better.”
Jaxson Gore scored nine, and Will Feltus added seven.
The Beavers will be back in action in Yakima at the SunDome on Friday morning against King’s, and they’ll also face Lakeside (9 Mile) on Saturday.
“It’ll be nice to be in the SunDome playing some good, quality teams,” Robertson said. “We’ll be playing some quality teams, and it’ll be a good challenge for us.”
Black Hills (4-3) will have another non-league matchup on Saturday at home against Onalaska.
