The Black Hills girls wrestling team finished sixth among 43 teams at the Pac Coast Tournament in Ridgefield on Saturday.
Sloane Kruger (105) led the way with a perfect 4-0 weekend, winning all four of her matchups in the first round. The first two came via tech fall before she pinned her final two opponents in less than 90 seconds each.
It’s her second straight win at a tournament, as she took gold at the Hammerhead Invite last week.
“She’s just wrestling lights out right now,” Black Hills coach Jason Dick said. “She’s been working really hard this year, and she’s wrestling like she’s on a mission.”
Izzy Steinebach (155) placed fifth, and sophomores Eden Combs (140) and Wren Neklason (130) placed sixth and eighth, respectively.
“Those are two second-year wrestlers,” Dick said of Combs and Neklason. “They did a great job. To place at this tournament is awesome.”
The Black Hills boys were split up, and one wrestler placed at both events that they were at.
Aiden Labouff (120) finished sixth at the Pac Coast Tournament, winning four consolation rounds to make it to the placement matches, and Roberto Rivera-Jesus (113) went 3-0 to finish first at The Rock Tournament on Vashon Island.
His prize was a rock from the island painted gold.
