Bicyclist, 42, struck and killed after swerving onto U.S. Highway 12 near Glenoma

A 42-year-old bicyclist was struck and killed by a truck after swerving onto the roadway on Wednesday afternoon near Glenoma, according to the Washington State Patrol. 

Trenton L. Piatt, of Glenoma, was declared dead at the scene of the crash on U.S. Highway 12 near mile marker 105 at about 1:52 p.m. on Oct. 30. 

According to the state patrol, Piatt was traveling west on the eastbound shoulder when he swerved into the eastbound lane and was struck by a 1989 Ford F-250 driven Richard A. Blue, 70, of Packwood. 



Blue was not responsible for the crash, according to the state patrol, which listed the cause of the crash as inattention by Piatt. 

Blue was not injured. 

Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash, according to the state patrol.
