Beavs Lose Defensive Battle with Elma

Though the Tenino girls basketball team got off to a strong start, a full-court defense and a struggling offense sunk the Beavers in another league contest to Elma, 34-20.

Bri Asay scored 10 points, and Jaeleen Woodward added another six points, but it was another tough outing for the Beaver offense Thursday night on the road.

“Defensively, Tenino started off strong playing good defense,” Tenino coach Scott Ashmore said. “We struggled to make shots. Elma's pressure full-court defense caused us a lot of problems, creating too many turnovers.”

The Beavers got on the board early in the first half thanks to some free throws and Elma foul trouble, but had a hard time getting shots to fall from the field in the loss.

The Beavers get a week off before taking on league foe Montesano next Thursday on the road.
