Beavers Sweep Grizzlies For First League Wins

Posted

Finally able to get a full league doubleheader in, the Tenino baseball team dispatched Hoquiam twice — and avoided a pesky rainout — with 14-1, and 18-1 wins Wednesday evening at Olympic Stadium.

The wins are the Beavers first in league play this spring, after their first five league games had been delayed due to weather. Before Wednesday, just a solo Montesano game had been made up last week, a 19-16 loss.

The Beavers bounced back to win in decisive fashion on the road to move to 2-1 in the league standings.

In Game 1, a 14-1 win in five innings, the Beavers walked just three batters, with Easton Snider stepping out of the bullpen to pitch four solid innings, striking out nine and walking one, with one unearned run on two hits.

Kellan Knox was a highlight at the plate, going 2 for 3 on a pair of doubles, knocking in four runs and drawing a walk. Snider also went 2 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and three RBIs.

In Game 2, an 18-1 win in four innings, the pitching staff again got to work, with Brody Noonan and Carson Hart combining to allow just three walks and two hits with seven strikeouts.

Noonan also hit a 2-RBI triple, and Hart was a perfect 2 for 2 at the plate with three runs scored and two walks drawn. Kaden Sayamnet had a two hit day at the bottom of the order, scoring two runs and batting in three more.

The Beavers don’t have much time to rest. With one off-day, they are scheduled to play another league doubleheader against Eatonville on Friday, weather-permitting.
