Beavers Open League Play With Win Over Monte

Opening up the calendar year with a league victory, the Tenino boys basketball team defeated Montesano on the road Wednesday night, 51-37, in a defensive battle.

Though the Beavers ran into some turnover issues, they controlled the pace on the defensive end, holding the Bulldogs to just 31% shooting and forcing 17 turnovers themselves.

All the while, Tenino also had a strong game on the glass, with Austin Gonia notching another double-double with 14 points and 10 boards, Noah Schow adding a game-high 19 points with eight rebounds, and Brody Noonan scoring just four points but hauling down 10 massive rebounds.

Will Feltus had another strong all-around game at guard, scoring nine points with six steals and four assists, helping the Beavs shoot over 50% for the game.

The Beavers (7-2, 1-0 1A Evergreen) continue league play against Hoquiam on Friday on the road.
