In a dominant showing on the mat, the W.F. West boys wrestling team defeated rival Centralia in a dual meet, 71-6 Thursday night in Chehalis, winning all but one match.

The lone Tiger winner was Jesus Campos, who defeated Rafael Mendez by fall in the 126-pound weight class.

The Bearcats, meanwhile, won three matches by forfeit, eight by fall, and two by decision.

The two matches that didn’t end in pins were W.F. West victories, with Hayden Sciera winning by decision in the 170 weight class over Tiger Christopher Mendoza-Ponce, and Andrew Penland winning by major decision in the 220 weight class over Eriberto Mojica.

Lewis Allen (113), Damian Hernandez (120), Race Scalici (132), Graysen Serl (138), Cristo Parriott (145), Tucker Land (182), Waylen Land (195), and Daniel Matagi (285) all won by fall for the Bearcats.

Winners for the Bearcats by forfeit included Mason McGregor (106), Blake Ely (152), and Kage Homan (160).

“We wrestled well, the kids did okay,” W.F. West coach Jamie Rakevich said. “Coming off a big tournament last weekend, we took that forward as a team. We had to get back to basics as a team, and get back to working hard.”

The Bearcats were equally as dominant on the girls side, though winning mostly by forfeits with nearly a full lineup. Of the matches played, Centralia's Jade Hudson won by fall over Emily Mallonee and Eden Hornby to finish unbeaten for the Tigers.

For the Bearcats, Kaylee Lehman won by decision over Centralia's Willa Phillips, but Phillips came back to pin Aurora Martin. Shelby Hazlett won by fall over Baylee Blankenship from Centralia, and Brooke Johnson also won by fall over Blankenship.
