There’s still a lot of wrestling to be done this winter in Chehalis, but with its final home dual Wednesday, the W.F. West boys wrestling team celebrated senior day in style, beating Tumwater 55-21.

“We still have a whole month left of the season, but it was good to end our home duals with a win,” WFW coach Jamie Rakevich said.

W.F. West seniors went 5-0 on the evening, including Damien Hernandez (120) and Daniel Matagi (285) winning on forfeits.

At 145, Cristo Parriott won by major decision over Tumwater’s Josh Matundura. Blake Ely picked up another win by fall at 152 over Mekhi Richardson, and Waylen Land wrestled up a division and beat Nathan Boone by fall at 195.

The Bearcats also picked up wins by Mason McGregor (106), Beau Guyette (138), Kage Homan (160), and Andrew Penland (220), with Tucker Land taking a forfeit at 182.

Tumwater picked up wins from Elijah Barnes (113), Brayden Weiks (126), AJ Yocom 132), and Cash Short (170).

The Bearcat girls were even more dominant Wednesday night, picking up five forfeit wins, and winning all but one match to the T-Birds.

Eden Hornby (120), Courtney Jones (135), and Kallee Corey all won by pin or injury default in dominant fashion, with Jones hitting a cement mixer from her feet to pin her opponent in the first 30 seconds of the match.

Lexi Magnusson was the lone girls winner from Tumwater, pinning Ella Young in the second round.

W.F. West is set to host the Bearcat Invite on Saturday, with nine teams coming to Chehalis. Action is set to start at 10 a.m. with the medal matches estimated to begin in the afternoon.
