Bearcats Run-Rule Tigers in Five

Led once again by a steady performance from Kamy Dacus in the circle, and by a great day at the plate, the W.F. West softball team upended Centralia at home, 12-1, in a makeup contest Tuesday at Recreation Park.

The Bearcats put seven runs on the board in the first inning, batting around with hits up and down the lineup. The Tigers could never recover, getting just one back in the third before a five-spot in the fifth ended the game in five innings.

Dacus threw all five innings, striking out 10 and allowing just one earned run on three hits. Rachel Gray and Brielle Etter led the Bearcats at the plate, with Gray smacking a home run in the fifth inning and Etter going 3 for 4 with two runs and two RBIs. Typically a courtesy runner, W.F. West’s Addi Froschauer went 1 for 1 with a run and two RBIs.

For the Tigers, Peyton Smith got the start in the circle and went two innings with a strikeout.

Makayla Chavez scored the Tigers lone run, smacking a double in the fourth inning before a Jadyn Hawley hit pushed her across home plate for the score.

The Tigers take on Tumwater Wednesday, while the Bearcats play Aberdeen.
