The W.F. West boys golf team ended its regular season on a high note on Wednesday, as the Bearcats defeated Black Hills 414-416 in an 18-hole match at Tumwater Valley.
"Both Teams played very well and showed that they were ready for the postseason,” W.F. West coach Matt Klovdahl said.
W.F. West was led by match medalist Weston Potter, who shot a 79. Jax Potter followed with an 81, Emmett Goodman shot an 82, Jamie Conzatti posted an 84, and Fox Rogerson posted an 88.
Black Hills was led by Phoenix Flores, who shot an 80, and Kendall Roberson, who finished with an 81. Jack Cassler was only one behind with an 82, and Logan Stallings was only one more behind with an 83. Ethan Badger rounded out the Black Hills scorecard with a 90.
“We preach to our players that every stroke counts and that you have to fight for every stroke even when you aren't playing your best,” Klovdahl said. “Today was a perfect example of why we challenge our men to focus on each swing and each putt to try and post the lowest score possible.”
Both Black Hills and W.F. West will play in the EvCo Championships on Monday at Riverside, and they’ll both head south the following Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 21 and 22, for the 2A District 4 Championships at Heron Lake Golf Course in Portland, Oregon.
