The W.F. West boys basketball team struggled defensively early on Thursday, but they clamped down as the game went on and topped Aberdeen 73-57.

Aberdeen came out firing, scoring 26 points in the first quarter, but the Bearcats (13-5, 10-1 2A EvCo) limited them to just 31 points over the final three quarters.

After dropping 22 points in the first quarter, the W.F. West offense mostly continued to roll, adding 18 in the second, 12 in the third, and 21 in the fourth.

The Bearcats were excellent from the floor the entire night, shooting 58.5 percent, including a 71 percent mark inside the arc and a 40.9 percent rate beyond it.

Lucas Hoff led the way with 19 points, while Tyler Klatush added 14 and six assists. Parker Eiswald scored eight and grabbed six boards, while Grady Westlund scored four and hauled in five rebounds.

With a win over Shelton on Monday, W.F. West would clinch the 2A EvCo title and the No. 1 seed from the EvCo at the district tournament.
