Bearcats Handle Warriors in 3

Holding down its home court in style, the W.F. West volleyball team put together one of its most complete matches of the season in a sweep of Rochester Thursday night in Chehalis, 25-17, 25-16, 25-10.

Multiple Bearcats logged double-digit kills, and W.F. West’s setters made sure to get balls in spots where Morgan Rogerson and Julia Dalan could take advantage after some nice digs in the back row from Courtney Jones.

“It was the best the girls have played all season,” Bearcats coach Robert Lucas said. “Our serve receive and defense was really good which set up our offense. The girls have started to really believe in and trust themselves and each other. It was by far the most complete game we’ve played this season.”

Jones dug up 24 balls, which led to 29 combined assists from Savannah Hawkins and Saige Brindle, which then led to 15 kills from Rogerson and 11 more from Dalan.

Rogerson also added 13 digs, giving her a double-double. Mari Ceesay had five aces in the win to lead the Bearcats behind the service line.

Over on the other side, the Warriors had a hard time playing consistently, and a strong Bearcats squad exposed that in a loss.

“We’re just struggling a little bit with putting it all together at the same time,” Warriors coach Bridget Morris said. “We got in slumps we couldn't get back out of.”

The Warriors take on Black Hills on Tuesday for their Senior night before finishing out the season against Centralia on the road Thursday. The Bearcats host Shelton on Tuesday for Senior Night before battling Aberdeen on the road for their final regular season game Thursday.
