Bearcats Capture 2A EvCo Golf Championship

W.F. West freshman phenom Ben Halverstadt won match medalist honors to help the Bearcats capture the 2A Evergreen Conference championship at Riverside Golf Course on Monday.

Halverstadt shot a 75, a 40 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine, to edge Centralia’s Cole Wasson, who shot a 76. Centralia sophomore Von Wasson was fourth after shooting a 78 and Tumwater’s Gabe Johnston was fifth (80).

Also advancing to the 2A District 4 tournament on Wednesday for the Bearcats were Tukker Rosbach (83), Brock Bunker (85), Micah Ethell (93), Dirk Plakinger (94) and Nate Dahlin (101).

Tigers who qualified for districts, other than the Wasson brothers, were Tucker Weaver (118), Matteo Guerrero (119) and Brady Sprague (122).



Qualifying for districts for Rochester were Brady Moen (102), Hyde Parrish (108), Xavier Mendez (108), Braden Hartley (115) and Cooper Rhodeheaver (123).

Tumwater qualifiers along with Johnston were Kaden Clark (82), Reagan Broome (84), Nolan Campbell (84), Will Arthur (101) and Jadn Gonzalez (103).

Black Hills qualifiers were Brandon Nguyen (88), Luke Fenner (89), Luke Verlangieri (100), Malcolm Meierbachtol (103) and Hank Venable (130).

The 2A District 4 meet is set for 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis.
