Bearcats Can’t Overcome Tough Start in Loss to Cougars

Falling behind 22-9 after one quarter, the W.F. West boys basketball team outscored Capital the rest of the way, but couldn’t come all the way back in a 62-56 loss on the road Saturday night in its final non-league game.

The Bearcats got 18 points and 16 rebounds from Soren Dalan, who did most of the work early on, and a game-high 19 points from Tyler Klatush, who scored mostly in the second half, but that early quarter loomed large all night in the loss.

No other Bearcat scored in double figures, but Gage Brumfield contributed nine points.

W.F. West will hope to leave the previous week behind them, after dropping three games in a row for the first time all year, when it takes on Centralia for senior night Tuesday night.
