Baxter, Gore lead Beavers to close win over Warriors

It was as close as it could be between two golf teams on Wednesday at Tahoma Valley, as Tenino’s Ethan Baxter and Jaxson Gore led the Beavers to a 192-193 victory over Rochester.

Baxter and Gore shot a 41 and 42, respectively, to lead Tenino, while Gavin Derrick added a 50, Gage Robinson recorded a 59, and Gabe Hart shot a 61.

Baxter and Gore’s performances were so strong that they helped hold off a Rochester team that had four golfers shoot a 49 or better.

Kellen Douthit led the way for Rochester with a 47, Wesley Dahl added a 48, and Boden Grimm and Cash Edminster both shot 49s. Gavin Revel rounded out the Rochester scorecard with a 53.

This was both teams’ final match of the regular season.

They’ll both head to Tumwater Valley for their next two postseason matches. The first, the 1A Evergreen Conference Meet, is set for Wednesday, Oct. 16, while the 1A District 4 Championships are set for Oct. 22 and 23.
