Onica Chase, Xtyn Norberg, and Ava Good scored two goals each on Wednesday night, leading Toledo to a 9-0 win over Ilwaco.
Peyton Holter, Kailea Lairson, and Braelyn Nyberg also got on the scoresheet in the bounceback performance.
“We just have a team,” Toledo coach Horst Malunat said. “I want us to be that way where you can stop one, but you can’t stop them all. If you have a good coordinated attack, it is hard to stop.”
As the game went on, Malunat put a restriction on how the Riverhawks could score, saying it had to be on a crosser or a corner kick.
“We wanted to prepare for the teams above us,” Malunat said. “If you put a restriction or force a team to play a certain way, they rise to that.”
He won’t have to wait long to see if the Riverhawks (6-5-1, 3-1-1 C2BL) can duplicate it against a team above them in the standings, as they’ll head to Toutle Lake on Monday. That’s the first of three road games next week, as they’ll also face Forks and Raymond-South Bend on the road.
“We have to rise up and set a standard for how we want to play,” Malunat said. “We have to be consistent with our play and ride out these next three road trips.”
