Balanced Night Leads Tigers Past Cardinals

Posted

Jumping out to a 24-2 lead after one quarter, the Napavine boys basketball team ran past Winlock thanks to a balanced scoring effort Tuesday night on the road, 85-42.

Eleven Tigers scored, led by James Grose’s 22 points and Karsen Denault’s 19. Jarin Prather added another 13 to round out double-digit scorers.

The Tigers’ press frustrated the Cardinals for most of the game, leading to 18 first half turnovers and a deficit Winlock couldn’t overcome.

“Napavine’s press gave us fits right out of the gate,” Winlock coach Cole Doughty said. “They are well-coached and play with a lot of intensity. We need to do a better job of taking care of the ball.”

Winlock was led by Payton Sickles and Chase Scofield, who each scored 10 points.

Napavine takes on Rainier at home on Friday while Winlock looks to get back on track against Toledo in a rivalry contest on the road.
