Another Sheets Hat Trick, Another Win for W.F. West

The hat tricks are starting to become commonplace for Cameron Sheets.

W.F. West’s senior star logged her third three-goal game in a row Thursday, as the Bearcats dominated Shelton from the get-go in a 5-0 win at home in 2A EvCo play.

“She’s been on a roll the past few weeks,” W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said.

Sheets added two assists to her final line Thursday; going back three games, the senior has posted 14 goal contributions.

And it started right away. For the second time in three matches, the Bearcats started the scoring in the first two minutes off of a set piece, this time with Sheets curling a corner kick in for an Olimpico to set the tone for the onslaught to come.

Sheets set up the next two goals, sending through balls in to Emily Mallonee in the eighth minute and Lena Fragner in the 37th.

Two minute’s after Fragner’s strike, Sheets went back to doing it herself, dribbling around a handful of Highclimbers before unleashing a strike from distance to make it 4-0 W.F. West going into halftime.

The hat trick hit completion in the 47th minute, when Fragner returned the favor with a through ball to Sheets, who took it around the keeper and slotted it home.

“The girls around her are starting to learn how to play the game off the ball, and we just have really good team chemistry right now with our attacks going forward,” Anderson said. “That additional movement is really freeing her up and allowing her to be the great player that she is on the field.”

W.F. West finished with a 12-1 shot advantage, with Staysha Fluke stopping Shelton’s lone attempt on target.

The Bearcats (6-4, 5-2 2A EvCo) will go into next week with momentum, starting Tuesday against an Aberdeen side that beat them 3-2 in their first meeting of the fall.

“We’ve kind of got something to prove when we go out on Tuesday,” Anderson said. “We’re going to go out pretty hard.”
