Another 4A team fell at the hands of Tumwater’s girls basketball team, after the T-Birds already dispatched Woodinville earlier this season, they took down Bethel, 56-37 at home Tuesday night.

After rushing out to a large lead, and allowing a 18-10 third quarter disadvantage that nearly let Bethel back into it, a 10-0 fourth quarter sealed the dominant victory.

“We started really strong and ended strong,” T-Birds coach Robin Johnson said. “That’s how we need to win ugly games this year, because we didn’t shoot well from the field at all.”

The Thunderbirds (6-0, 3-0 2A EvCo) were led in scoring by Aubrey Amendala, who dropped 15 and scored her 1,000th career point in the win. Amendala also hauled in a team-high seven rebounds and grabbed four steals. Kylie Waltermeyer (14 points) and Natalie Sumrok (10 points) were the other T-Birds in double figures.

“The kids powered through and kept plugging along, it was a good win,” Johnson said.

Heading into a holiday tournament in Lynden after a short break, the T-Birds are rolling, with six straight wins to start the year, a perfect 3-0 start in league play, and two wins over 4A opponents.
