A 33-year-old Vancouver man appeared Monday in Clark County Superior Court, accused of attempting to lure a minor into his house.
Judge Emily Sheldrick set bail for Christopher Ryan Housen at $15,000. He is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 1.
According to a jail pre-booking sheet, Housen has been previously diagnosed with schizophrenia.
Clark County sheriff's deputies responded around 10:55 a.m. Sept. 14 after an 11-year-old girl reported that a man yelled to her, as she walked to school, to come inside his house so he could show her something, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The girl ran to school with a male student. She reported that she was walking in the 3300 block of 94th Way when the man, later identified by deputies as Housen, called out to her from his house. She said she thought she was going to be kidnapped, the affidavit states.
Deputies compared the girl's description of the man with prior booking photos of Housen, court records say.
Then, at 5:24 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a sexually motivated assault. A woman said a man stopped and groped her around 1:30 p.m. near Northeast 32nd Avenue and 96th Street, according to the affidavit.
Her description of the man and what he was wearing matched the 11-year-old's description, the affidavit says. The woman said she was afraid of retaliation and asked police not to investigate or arrest anyone, court records state.
Deputies also found a report from around 7:20 a.m. of a man matching Housen's description allegedly attempting to kiss a passerby. The incident happened within walking distance of the other two calls, according to the affidavit.
Neighbors confirmed the man described was Housen and that he lived in the area, the affidavit states.
