Senior all-area star Madison Fay slammed a game-high 15 kills and Adna upset perennial power Toutle Lake on the road in four sets (25-23, 25-19, 22-25, 25-9) for a crucial 2B Central League victory Tuesday.

After walking in Toutle Lake’s gymnasium and seeing all their state banners, the Pirates didn’t let it psych them out, Adna coach Wendie Dotson said.

“The girls played lights out,” Dotson said. “I don’t think they could have played any better.”

Kendall Humphrey added 11 kills, Alyssa Davis recorded eight and Brooklyn Loose tallied five as the Pirates used tough hitting to keep the Ducks off balance all night.

“We’ve been focusing on playing aggressive and at the level the girls expect of themselves,” Dotson said. “A lot of good things happened.”

Adna (8-3, 7-1 league) hands Toutle Lake its second league loss and clears the way to take second place in league, which could be huge down the road for playoff seeding. The Pirates host Onalaska (4-1 league) for sole possession of second place on Tuesday in another league matchup.
