Adna Takes Care of Onalaska

Two one-way quarters in the middle of the game powered the 2B No. 7 Adna boys basketball team to a 19-point win over Onalaska, beating the Loggers 64-35 on Saturday in C2BL play.

The Pirates held a five-point lead after eight minutes, but turned that into a 17-point advantage at halftime and a 26-point lead after three quarters, holding the Loggers to just 11 total points in the second and third.

Onalaska finished the night shooting just 22% from the field, with Ben Russon leading the way with nine points.

Adna, meanwhile, had three players finish in double figures, with Braeden Salme scoring 18 points, Seth Meister adding 13, and Eli Smith pitching in 11.

The Pirates’ win, combined with Napavine’s loss to Toutle Lake, keeps them within a half game of second place in the C2BL — and a first-round bye in the district tournament — with five league games to go.

First, though, Adna will dip out of league play and head to Longview and Lower Columbia College’s MLK Day Tribute on Monday, where it will face off against Chief Leschi.

Onalaska will be off until next Wednesday, when it faces Rainier.
