The Adna girls soccer team had little issues taking care of Toutle Lake on Wednesday, as the Pirates downed the Ducks 9-0.
After Ava Humphrey opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Sophie Hagseth scored three goals in a five minute span to blow the game open before halftime.
“We pushed ourselves to get going early,” Adna coach Patrick Richardson said. “We had a lot of great shots early, we just couldn’t seem to get some of them to fall. Finally, we broke through.”
The scoring continued in the second half, as Lilly Wellander and Alyson Terry scored two goals each before a Toutle own goal late made it 9-0.
Lydia Tobin was the Pirates’ main facilitator, tallying four assists in the win.
“It’s nice to know that if she isn’t scoring, that we still have people who can put the ball in the back of the net,” Richardson said.
It was a welcome bounce-back performance for Adna, which was shutout by Napavine on Monday.
“It gets our offense rolling on the scoreboard again,” Richardson said. “We have the ability to score.”
The Pirates (8-6-1, 4-2-1 C2BL) will look for another win at home on Friday against Forks.
