Acorns Overwhelmed by Comets

Digging themselves into an early hole, the Oakville football team fell to No. 5 Naselle on the road Friday, 54-6.

Eddie Klatush led the Acorns with 63 rushing yards and 108 passing yards with a scoring toss to Ashton Boyd. But that was the lone score for the Acorns on a long night.

“We stumbled right away, fumbling on our first two drives and getting down 16-0 quick,” Acorns coach Skyler Davis said. “Our offense had a few bright moments moving the ball a bit and getting some chunk plays. Turnovers were our enemy, and our defense had no answer to the ground game.”

Haezen Cayenne added four tackles and a TFL, Courtney Price had two fumble recoveries, and Jake Jones had two sacks to lead the Acorns on defense.

Oakville will look to respond against Winlock next Friday in another league matchup.

“Now we need to turn around against a very tough Winlock team and keep ourselves in a good spot in the league standings,” Davis said.
